Application for evaluating slurry process parameters:
Paterson & Cooke are world leaders in slurry process technology. P&C has created this mobile application to allow users to quickly evaluate key slurry transport system process parameters.

The application has four main sections: mass balance of slurry (water, solids, mix and density); slump yield stress estimate; water pipe friction loss and standard sieve mesh sizes. The application includes unit converter functionality.

Features and functions of the application
The mass balance function inputs are tonnage, solids specific gravity and slurry mass concentration. The function provides the slurry volumetric flow rate, water flow rate, slurry density and slurry volumetric concentration. The slurry velocity is also provided by entering the inside diameter of a pipeline.

The yield stress function estimates the yield stress of a mixture based on a simple cylinder test. The required inputs are the cylinder height, measured slump and the slurry density.

The water pipe friction loss function evaluates the hydraulic gradient for water flow in a pipeline. The inputs are volumetric flow rate, pipe diameter, wall thickness and hydraulic roughness. The function provides the flow velocity, friction factor, Reynolds number and the hydraulic gradient.

The application includes a table of standard sieve mesh sizes according to the Tyler designation with corresponding aperture sizes in millimetres and inches.

A unit converter feature is included for typical slurry process parameters such as pressure, flow, area, length, power, temperature, speed, volume and mass.

Advantages and benefits of application:
The application allows professionals to quickly evaluate key slurry process parameters in the field or office using a smartphone or tablet.
